The School of Creative Industries is one of the largest centres for creative arts education in Scotland, with approximately 1200 students enrolled on a range of undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral programmes. All of these have been particularly successful in attracting high calibre students, many of whom have won international awards and progressed on to become major figures in the fields that we represent.

The School of Creative Industries has a number of overseas collaborations in Europe and China, and two members of staff hold external examiner positions at European Institutions. Design: The Design subject area has recently established an annual design project exchange with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Zurich, where students spend 2 weeks in each institution on joint projects. We also have a Design partnership with ZhengZhou University of Light Industry, in China involving collaborative projects, teaching, and student exchanges. Design students recently took part in the Deutsche Post International Design competition, winning a special award of eu1000. Screen Academy: The Screen academy has collaborative partnerships in Beijing and Shanghai

The School of Creative Industries has a strong presence in Art, Design and Media in UK Higher Education, and is extensively involved with projects and activities on a national and local level. A large number of staff in the School hold external examiner positions at other UK and European Institutions, and work in an advisory capacity with external bodies. Staff and students across the school are regularly involved with live projects in industry and the public sector, and students also partake in a variety of national and international competitions, most notably the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) student design awards, and the Art and Design Direction (D&AD) Awards. The Screen Academy Scotland (www.screenacademyscotland.co.uk) is a collaboration between Scotland's leading screen practice education institutions - Napier University and Edinburgh College of Art (eca) and and is one of seven institutions or collaborations designated as UK centres of excellence in film practice education by Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the Audio-visual Industry. Our long established Design area has recently received £12000 (eu18000) of funding to partake in the Scottish Six Cities International Design Festival (www.six-cities.com)
