Based on the reunion in 2006 of two centenary institutions, HEAD is at the crossroad of two vast domains: art and design. HEAD’s project aims at fostering a constant and balanced dialogue between both areas. To do so, HEAD offers a large variety of studies in a number of fields. Reflecting the diversity of contemporary culture HEAD allows each study area to develop its own specificities and invites to constructive dialogues. This respect of plurality and a stimulating attitude toward cross fertilization of creative practices is at the core of our project balancing creative utopias and professional realities.
HEAD has signed over 100 bilateral agreements in order to encourage student mobility and is an active member of several international networks (CILECT, AIAS, ELIA, etc.). The participation of students and faculties in international workshops and seminars is actively encouraged. Our academy has been instrumental in launching several international projects such as the upcoming colloquium AC/DC. HEAD cooperates on a regular basis with the numerous international institutions and NGO’s based in Geneva.
In art and design, HEAD is the largest educational body in the French speaking part of Switzerland. It operates a number of classes, workshops, lectures with partnering institutions such as the EPFL in Lausanne or the University in Geneva (e.g. Faculty of humanities, architecture, etc.). HEAD also cooperates with numerous cultural institutions on a regular basis, co-producing exhibitions, publications and research programs. Furthermore, professional projects developed for businesses and economic partners are embedded in our study programs
BA and MA studies as well as research activities in the fields of design and visual arts
